This year’s Library Annual Meeting is being conducted via email. The message below was sent out to all Library members currently on our email list on July 14. All current Library members are encouraged to read the report, review the slate of proposed trustees/officers and budget for the upcoming fiscal year, and vote on whether or not to approve these proposals by July 21.

Dear Members, Patrons, and Friends of the Woods Hole Library,

Each year we look forward to seeing you at the Library’s annual meeting for a lively talk, a review of the past year’s activities, and a vote on officers, new trustees, and the next year’s budget. This year, COVID-19 prevents our gathering, so we are instead sending this email with the hope that you are all well and not suffering too much from cabin fever.

Please review the slate of officers and new trustees shown below and the pared down budget included in the attached brochure. To vote on these items, please fill out the form you will find at the link below by July 21. Questions about them may be addressed to this email address, Note that the budget, achieved largely by reducing hours worked for each staff member, is based on the expectation of income limited by not being able to hold such fundraising activities as the spring plant sale, the July tag sale, and the August accessories sale. Should we find that income from memberships and grants allows us a fuller budget, we will adjust, as possible.

Our heartfelt thanks go out:

  • to all who responded so generously to the spring membership letter;
  • to Bob Pelletreau for providing wise counsel as trustee, vice president, and president since 2007; and
  • to retiring trustees Peter Collom, Lynn Shepherd, and Anne Richards, who each contributed generously of their time and talents toward the good health of the Library; and
  • to Prosser Gifford, who died July 5. He was a library enthusiast and a guiding light for this Library, including serving as President of the Trustees from 2009 to 2016. We remember him fondly.

Library lending and activities are proceeding in accordance with the state’s advisories. Currently, please enjoy delivery of requested books and browsing in our courtyard Pop-Up Library, online and limited in-person discussions, weekly craft packages, and a summer reading challenge for all ages. This year’s community art project invites you to help us repurpose catalog cards the librarians just couldn’t part with when everything went online—an online gallery and auction will be coming soon. To learn more about summer at the Library, please see the website,
