jamie_and_bookAuthor Jamie Cat Callan will host a children’s writing workshop on Tuesday, December 30th from 1-2:30 PM. It is for 9-12 year olds and is offered free of charge. Pre-registration is required and numbers are limited, so people should not hesitate to call the Library to register as soon as possible.

Ms. Callan’s writing workshops for adults are very popular. She has published eight books and is the creator of  “The Writers Toolbox: Creative Games and Exercises for Inspiring the ‘Write’ Side.” Callan has taught writing for over thirty years in a variety of venues, including Yale University (where she was a teaching fellow), New York University, U.C.L.A., Wesleyan University and Fairfield University.  She has also brought her improvisational writing games to prisons, psychiatric hospitals, senior centers, public and private schools, and to our very own Falmouth Community (Night) Schools. “I don’t believe in writers’ block,” says Ms. Callan.  “I believe that everyone can write, if they’re willing to take literary risks and learn the craft and architecture of story.”

Callan is married to William Thompson, a Woods Hole scientist.
