Isabelle Slotine, who has extensively researched Montesquieu’s works, uncovers how his ideas traveled across the Atlantic and influenced the Founding Fathers. In this engaging talk, Isabelle Slotine will highlight Montesquieu’s seminal work, The Spirit of Law, and explain how it found its way into Benjamin Franklin’s Library in Philadelphia, inspiring key figures like James Madison to shape the U.S. Constitution.
About the speaker: Former culture journalist in Paris, Isabelle Slotine graduated from Sciences-Po and has master’s degrees in French Law and French History. She is a class 2022 Associate guide at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
