The next stop in the Woods Hole Public Library’s series of travel talks is Morocco on Tuesday, June 4, at 3pm. Woods Hole resident Diane Smith recently went on a 10 day trip to Morocco, which included a car trip from Marrakech through the Dades Valley and Atlas Mountains and a night in the desert before arriving at Fes. She then flew from Fes back to Marrakech where she stayed in a traditional Moroccan house, known as a riad, right in the heart of the old city, otherwise known as the medina. Diane says, “It was really interesting to be on the African continent for the first time. I was taken by the range of terrain from lush agricultural areas to the desert within a day’s drive. The contrast from inside the medina in Marrakech versus the new city was striking.” Diane will share her stunning photos of the country, and share anecdotes about her experiences there. This entertaining and informative travel talk is sure to delight both those who are hoping to travel to Morocco themselves and those who simply wish to travel there vicariously.
