San Lyman and Sala Steinbach, both Story Hour veteran readers, will present. The two stories, by Michael Cunningham, (who wrote The Hours, based on Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway) are actually fractured fairy tales, based on “Jack and the Beanstalk” and “Beauty and the Beast,” from his collection, A Wild Swan. Updated for a contemporary audience, both Jack and the Beast have serious character flaws, and it is their warped personalities that make them creepy company.
