The Woods Hole Public Library is holding its eagerly anticipated Accessories and Adornments Sale on Saturday, August 3, from 10am to 2pm. The annual summer sale is not only an important source of fundraising income for the Library but also a festive community event. Donations from the sale have been coming into the Library for the past month, and will continue right up to the week before the sale. With newly cleaned out jewelry boxes and closets, shoppers are able to refresh their accessory wardrobes, availing themselves of bargain prices all for a good cause. In order to give all shoppers a chance to purchase fine jewelry treasures, there will be a limit on how many pieces of finer jewelry each shopper can buy. The sale will be spread throughout the lower level of the Library and, weather permitting, will extend out into the Library courtyard, giving shoppers plenty of space to explore all the wonderful accessories that will be on display. This year’s finds include a huge selection of high-end leather totes, designer rings and necklaces, and even a fun feathered pillbox hat.

As the anticipation grows for this year’s sale, the Library is once again raffling off a few special pieces of Panis jewelry. There are five pieces that can be won this year – earrings, two pin designs, a bracelet, and a whimsical set of iced tea spoons. The “pierced” silver work of Stavre and Gladys Panis has been beloved by Falmouth residents for nearly a century. With Gladys as designer and Stavre as silversmith, the couple, who met at the Massachusetts School of Art, moved to Falmouth in 1932 and opened a shop on Queens Buyway, where they offered elegant garden and marine designs in silver, brass, gold, and copper as well as enamel work. One of their silver pieces is included in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Raffle tickets are available for sale at the Library for $2 each or 3 tickets for $5. The drawing will be held at the end of the Accessories and Adornments Sale, on Saturday, August 3.

The Woods Hole Public Library is located at 581 Woods Hole Rd, and free parking for this event will be available just up the street at WHOI’s Challenger Lot.
