Woods Hole Public Library volunteers will be holding their eagerly awaited Fabric & Fiber Sale on Sunday, February 8, from 10am to 2pm. People come from far and wide, first to donate, and later to buy fabric, yarn, notions, and much more. This one day event is a major source of fundraising for the Library’s operating budget, and the generosity of both donors and shoppers are crucial to its success.
After Falmouth’s only fabric store, Fabric Corner, burned down in 2014 leaving the town without a local place to buy material for sewing projects, Woods Hole Public Library community members hatched a plan to hold a fundraiser sale on Super Bowl Sunday at the Library. The first sale in February 2015 was a great success, and the tradition has continued and grown every year, with only a one year interruption due to Covid, making this year’s sale the 10th anniversary of this community event.
Many volunteer hours go into making this sale a well-organized, fun, community shopping experience. The Woods Hole Public Library is happy to offer this sale both as an important source of fundraising and as a way to further its mission of sharing community resources.
