The Woods Hole Public Library is un-celebrating Super Bowl Sunday, February 7, with their second annual Fabric and Yarn Swap/Sale. The event will start at 11 AM and run till 3 PM. The roots of this sale go back to the annual sale that Fabric Corner, Falmouth’s last fabric store, now sadly gone, used to have every winter. Recently, Falmouth’s last yarn shop also closed.
People with an oversupply of fabric or fiber and a will to clean out their storage areas are asked to donate their surplus to this fund-raiser for the Library. They should bring in their offerings the previous week, Monday, Feb. 1 – Frday, Feb. 5 during regular library hours.
The prices at the sale will be extremely low, starting at $1 per yard and skein. After 2 PM on Sunday, customers may fill up a bag for just $ 10.
This idea is meeting with a lot of enthusiasm from knitters and seamstresses, both lapsed and current who are hoping to lighten the load their houses are carrying. So empty out those boxes, bins, and shelves, and donate to a worthy cause.
On Sunday, come join the fun, and maybe take home a fresh re-supply. Of course, people are welcome and encouraged to come only to purchase, not necessarily to donate. Others will surely attempt to donate and buy less than they brought. People in any of these categories are encouraged to come and join in what is sure to be a pleasurable day. Last year’s first Fabric and Yarn Swap attracted a veritable stream of people pouring in, delighting in their bargains.
For donation drop-off, Library open hours are Monday 12-5:30 and 7-9 PM, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 3-5:30, Wednesday 10-5:30 and 7-9 PM, and Saturday 12-5:30.. If it is impossible for donors to bring in their fiber during the week, they may still do so early Saturday afternoon when the Library is open.
