Yes! The Fabric & Fiber Sale is still scheduled to occur on Sunday, Feb. 9! We are extending the hours until at least 3pm, so while we still plan to open the doors at 10am, shoppers are STRONGLY encouraged to come later in the day. There is no need to line up in the miserable weather. Take your time and come when you can. There are plenty of treasures for everyone!

Woods Hole Public Library volunteers will be holding their eagerly awaited Fabric & Fiber Sale on Sunday, February 9, from 10 a.m, to at least 3pm. People come from far and wide, first to donate, and later to buy fabric, yarn, notions, and much more. This one day event is a major source of fundraising for the Library’s operating budget, and the generosity of both donors and shoppers are crucial to its success.

After Falmouth’s only fabric store, Fabric Corner, burned down in 2014 leaving the town without a local place to buy material for sewing projects, Woods Hole Public Library community members hatched a plan to hold a fundraiser sale on Super Bowl Sunday at the Library. The first sale in February 2015 was a great success, and the tradition has continued and grown every year, with only a one year interruption due to Covid, making this year’s sale the 10th anniversary of this community event.

Donations for the sale have been pouring in since the beginning of January. Among this year’s treasures are a large collection of high end quilting fabrics designed by Kaffe Fassett, beautiful skeins of unique wool and silk yarn, quilting tools as well as quilting and knitting books, vintage textiles, and much more. As usual, there is an abundance of quilting cotton, decorator fabrics, and fleece of all colors and patterns. Along with notions, knitting needles, and a veritable rainbow of workhorse acrylic yarns, there is truly something to delight every crafter.

Many volunteer hours go into making this sale a well-organized, fun, community shopping experience. The Woods Hole Public Library is happy to offer this sale both as an important source of fundraising and as a way to further its mission of sharing community resources.
