School is out for the summer, so come to the library to relax and enjoy a free family film! Join us for a screening of The One and Only Ivan, the 2020 film adaptation of Katherine Applegate’s 2013 Newbery award-winning novel of the same name. Starring the voices of Sam Rockwell, Angelina Jolie, and Danny Devito, the film tells the story of a gorilla named Ivan who tries to piece together his past with the help of an elephant named Stella as they hatch a plan to escape from captivity. Ivan shares a communal habitat in a suburban shopping mall with Stella the elephant, Bob the dog, and various other animals. He has few memories of the jungle where he was captured, but when a baby elephant named Ruby arrives, it touches something deep within him. Ruby is recently separated from her family in the wild, which causes him to question his life, where he comes from and where he ultimately wants to be.
