Falmouth resident Craig Dickson, retired from a career serving aboard several generations of oceanographic vessels, will talk about his time on many of WHOI’s ships. During his 34 year career with WHOI he sailed on 407 cruises of varying lengths, from a few hours to 48 days. The vessels he sailed aboard are Atlantis, Lulu, Atlantis II, and the Knorr. In his earlier years, he sailed as a seaman, progressing on to sail as an officer on the Atlantis, Atlantis II, and the Knorr. His talk will be amply illustrated with his own photographs of all these ships as well as of Alvin from 1981 to 2014, and filled with stories of the crew and scientists aboard. .As Mr. Dickson has said in describing his talk “I was at Sea a long time & this is just to show a little bit of that time.”
