  • Upcoming Dates:

Are you an avid journal writer looking to connect with other avid journal writers? Are you new to journaling and curious about how to get started? Come to the Woods Hole Public Library’s Journal Club! Science writer, artist, and daily journaler, Camille Ledoux, will facilitate this fun and inclusive new group at the Library.

Who/What/Why: Journaling is often seen as a solitary activity, but it can be a special way to gather in community and feel connected. Reflecting on the page can help us learn more about how to navigate the world beyond the page. Everyone is welcome, and no prior journaling experience is necessary to join the group, just an interest in creating without judgement, and exploring the joy of reflective writing with others. Each group will begin with a low stakes drawing prompt followed by a short essay being read aloud with an attached journaling prompt. During the free writing period, participants can feel free to deviate from the prompt as much as they’d like. There is no expectation to share what you’ve written. After writing, we will close with a fun conversation prompt. Please bring a journal and something to write with.

When/Where: Woods Hole Library (upstairs in the big front room), biweekly on Monday at 5:30pm (starting May 11th)

About Camille: I’m a published poet, a happy artist and currently work as a science writer in Woods Hole. I started journaling last year as a 100-day creative project. I’m now more than 300 days into daily journaling and have found it to be a deeply generative practice. Journaling allows me a space to create and reflect that doesn’t need to be polished for anyone else’s consumption and has allowed me to see where I’m standing in my own way and move towards aligning with the life I want. Journaling has led to improved wellbeing for me, and I hope to create a space where others can also explore the practice and enjoy it.
