Do you have any clothing that has rips, pesky stains or holes in it that you’d like to mend? Join Mariko Sugimori (Instagram @Mona_and_Zoe) at the Woods Hole Public Library for a Mending Circle! This class offers a flexible, hands-on experience where you can bring in items to repair or practice mending techniques on a denim square we provide. Mariko will advise and teach repair techniques for sweaters, socks, denim and more. Registration is required as space is limited! People of all skill levels are welcome to this course. All the mending supplies you need to get started will be provided by the Woods Hole Public Library. Mariko hopes that after this class, participants can take these newly acquired skills to curate a more sustainable wardrobe by increasing the life of their clothing and keeping it out of the landfill. To register for this workshop, call the Woods Hole Public Library at 508-548-8961 or emailing whpl_mail@clamsnet.org.
About Mariko: I’ve recently been exploring various methods of visible repair with kintsugi and textile mending, in addition to the repairs for friends/neighbors. I have really enjoyed empowering people to extend the life of their things and reduce waste, and am interested in trying to find ways to make mending a larger part of my life and our community.
