The Woods Hole Public Library is excited to welcome back author and mycologist Larry Millman for another fun and informative mushroom walk on Thursday, June 27, at 2:00 PM. The walk will take place in Beebe Woods and will focus on finding and identifying mushrooms and lichen that are typically found in the woods at this time of year. Larry led a mushroom walk for the Library in Beebe Woods this past March, and participants were delighted at the number of fungi that could be found even during the cold season. Now, with warmer June temperatures and spring rains, there are likely even more fascinating specimen to be found! (Please note: this walk will not focus on edible mushrooms.)
Interested mushroom hunters should call the Library at 508-548-8961 or email whpl_mail@clamsnet.org to reserve a place on the walk. The group will meet in the unpaved “Hiker’s Lot” to the right of the Cape Cod Conservatory building, and the walk will last approximately 2 hours.
