Event Details

  • Date:

Spring is here! The Woods Hole Public Library’s 48th annual Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, May 11 from 9 till noon, rain or shine.

Buying:

The sale will be held on the Library lawn, 581 Woods Hole Road. This is the best place to find locally successful perennials, as they are dug from local gardens where they have become too successful and need to be thinned. Donated plants include perennials, shrubs, ferns, herbs, occasional trees, and other garden plants.

As always, big beautiful dahlia tubers are expected. Interesting varieties of tomatoes and peppers, vegetable and flower seedlings, and herbs are also grown especially for the sale by gardeners in the community.

What makes this sale so unique is that almost every plant is donated by local gardeners. Find the most successful Cape Cod perennials, favorite veggies and annuals at great prices! The annual plant sale at the Woods Hole Public Library is one of the highlights of spring in Woods Hole. The sale has been running since the mid-1970s, and has become a vital source of operating funds for the village library.

We recommend you show up promptly at 9 AM to get the best selection. It is always an adventure to find (and buy!) interesting plants at this sale.

Contributing:

We can’t hold the sale without your generous donation of plants and time.

If you would like to donate plants, preferably labeled, they can be dropped off in the library courtyard any time during the week before the sale (May 6-10). If you need help transporting or digging plants to donate, the Library’s team of devoted volunteer gardeners will come to pick them up.

If you would like to donate time and energy, we need volunteers to dig donated plants, trim and label donated plants, contribute empty pots, fetch soil from the Town compost facility, fetch beer flats from local liquor stores, fetch empty pots from garden centers, or a thousand other tasks. We will welcome your help most gratefully. Please get in touch.
