The Woods Hole Public Library is celebrating summer reading with a Reading Regatta throughout July and August. Readers of all ages can log their daily reading and earn special iron on patches to show off their progress. To kick off the summer, all are invited to a Raingutter Regatta on Saturday, July 6, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Come to the Library/Museum courtyard at 11:00 am to create a sailboat using recycled materials. The Library will have a motley assortment of materials on hand for kids to try their hand at creating a swift, buoyant sailing vessel to race. Races will begin at high noon! In addition to the Raingutter Regatta races, there will be a number of other fun activities set up. The Woods Hole Historical Museum will have their spritsail boat kits available for purchase, along with a small pool to take new boats out for a spin. A station for creating a banner using signal flags will also be set up, along with a knot tying station. It will be a fun morning to celebrate reading with a nautical spin!
