Another tradition is observed on Superbowl Sunday that has nothing to do with football.

The origin of the Library’s sale goes back to the Falmouth shop Fabric Corner, which, for years, had held an annual super sale on Super Bowl Sunday.  The sale was flooded by knitters and needlewomen escaping their home televisions and the football broadcast. Unfortunately, Fabric Corner burned down in 2014, so the Library decided to fill the void this created.

A de-stash and re-stash event, the event depends on quality donations.  Enthusiasts with an oversupply of fabric or yarn are asked to donate their surplus to this fund-raiser where it will be packaged, labeled, and organized.  Drop items off at the library during regular library hours from Monday, January 22nd through Saturday, February 3rd.

At the sale, you will find quality yarns and fabrics for bargain prices, along with an array of colorful quilting cottons.

Fiber-o-philes and bargain seekers alike will enjoy the events, with prices starting at $1 per yard and skein. After 2:30 PM, during the last half hour of the sale, customers may fill a bag for just $10.

All proceeds will benefit the library.

Library hours: Monday 12-5:30 and 7-9 PM, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 3-5:30, Wednesday 10-5:30 and 7-9 PM, and Saturday 12-5:30 PM
